Coming from Indochina I had been appointed Manager for Thailand on the 1st of February
1964 and one of my first jobs at Bangkok was the recruitment of Khun Salak with whom,
although I did not expect it at that time, I was going to work closely with for more than three
decades expanding our organization all over the Far East and Pacific area.

The first time I went to Tibet the country was already in a transition period
and in full effervescence, the people were handling the move towards a
more modern world. Since that time, like in the whole Far East, the
changes have been tremendous. -

Les premières liaisons radio, et ce pendant plus d’un demi siècle, ont eu lieu en graphie pure c’est à dire l’émission d’une fréquence radio que l’on pouvait à l’aide d’un manipulateur mettre en route ou interrompre très rapidement. Il y a également eu un code Z pour les liaisons teletypes mais les communications étant plus sécurisées ce code n’a pratiquement pas été utilisé du moins à la SITA;

Oui les codes ICAO étaient utilisés en totalité aussi bien pour les villes et aéroports que pour les compagnies. Ce qui était intéressant à cette époque où les liaisons radio étaient plutôt aléatoires car non protégées c’est que le code ICAO avec ses 4 lettres indiquait le pays ou tout au moins la région concernée ce qui permettait une vérificatio…[Read more]

Votre intéressant article à ce sujet m’a ramené quelques souvenirs en mémoire.
– Lorsque je suis entré à la SITA nous utilisions les codes ICAO exclusivement. Ce n’est que vers 1955 que nous avons adopté les codes IATA.
