    This paper, written by Joachim Brandt and Georges Chrétien, was presented at the Symposium on Computer Communications Networks and Teletraffic, Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, April 4-6, 1972.
    In this paper the principal methods to control and operate a store-and-forward network are considered. The Sita network and Type A and Type B traffic are presented with an analysis of transit times.

    SITA Head Office was initially located at 92 Avenue de Wagram and the moved to 9, rue Théodore de Banville in Paris until 1968. A photograph of that building is shown in this documment.
    You will also find another picture (taken in 1978?) of a meeting held apparently in Vancouver and on which we can recognize:

    SITA held a meeting in Singapore in 1971 for the purpose of developing network facilities in the Pacific area. On this photogragh we can see G. Monniot, then General Manager of SITA, addressing the audience.

    The SITA NYC center was the "most sophisticated in the entire network". in 1971 the decision was taken to replace the former Univac 418-II with a more powerfull Univac 418-III. This migration was performed in September 1971 and came along with a relocation of the site to Bohemia. The photograph shows the new installation.

    In 1971 SITA celebrated the first anniversary of the HLN network and performed the first transmission of Type A traffic over the HLN for BEA with a CRT in ROM and the BEA BEACON ASRS - 5 computer reservation system in LON.

    In this monograph edited by D. Kroneberg in July 1972 to inform SITA Members about the main tasks of SITA Management.
    The introduction is from Georges Monniot and there are contributions from R. Bébié, C. Avignon, B. Weibel, A. Carson, C. Deroual, D. Andorka and D. Kroneberg.
    Surprisingly there no article on the SITA oldest service still in activity: the Type B service!
