How much I enjoyed SITA 1976-81

Except for when I crashed the Paris centre at peak hour on the busiest day ever. I was measuring the internal performance of the DS714 (?) switch to see how much traffic it could carry. As I connected the patchboard there was a spark, an electrical transient, and the switch went down. Klaxons began to sound. The hot standby switch tried to take over but the tide of messages was too strong. Both switches took it in turns to restart and crash, and pretty soon planes started taking off empty all over the francophone world. After that they stationed a person outside by the elevator to stop me even getting off at that floor.

But the happy times were more frequent, both in the office and out with the Association Sportive. You can see a film I made of a sailing expedition with some seriously handsome young men and women colleagues: https://youtu.be/Oa1IaiEFzjs
